Recently (this morning, actually) I came across a rectangular, woven basket containing a bunch of old notes and lists I had written to myself while procrastinating about some other task I probably should have been doing. Most of it was unusable, but amusing, at times, to rehash.
One was this list I made of words I adore.
Followed by words I abhor.
Fecundmellow (An adjective coined by Faulkner to describe the voices of women working in fields)
Somnolent ( A word a doctor of my acquaintance used to describe a patient resting after a violent outbreak )
Crisp
Ululation
There are many more. I’m sure you have your own. And as for the second list :
Untious
Scree
Smegma
Well, that’s enough of that ... what have you found in your old notes lately?
My favorite word is Katie
Faulkner! Omg I have a notebook of words and the first three were from the first paragraph of The Sound and Fury....immolation....abnegation...etc. Great post!
